We have expanded on the ability to send SMS messages from our CMS system.
There are two ways to configure and send text messages to a cell phone.
1. If you know the carrier of each cell number to which you want to send text messages, you can send messages via an email server. The standard configuration includes the domain name for all major us carriers and each time a cell phone number is added to the system you can select the appropriate carrier. If you are missing a carrier in the list, let us know so we can add it. The email address of a cell phone number is phonenumber@domain.
2. We have added support for using an SMS gateway as well. At present we support twilio.com but more gateways can be added at your request as long as they provide API's that make it possible to send and receive messages. The advantage of this method is that SMS mesages can be sent without knowing the carrier, and only knowing the cell phone number. Most SMS gateways are a paid service with a monthly subscription fee and/or a per message fee. The cost of using a gateway is not included with the CMS platform.
SMS messages can be used in many places with the CMS application. The standard functionality allows the user to send a SMS message to any cell phone number in the system, but we can also automate the functionality to be used with workflow processes and other types of alerts.
