How to convert an address book entry to a user or group in the organization module

The Address Book module is often used to keep track of customers and vendors. When these entities are created in the Address Book they do not get a user account or any access to features within the CMS platform.

If for some reason you want to grant access to the system to entities that already exist in the Address Book, you can do so without retyping any of the information.

As a user you will need access to the convert functions (Convert to Department, Group and User). With that access enabled you go to the Address book and navigate to the entity you want to convert. Then you click on the button indicating the type of conversion you want to make. This will open a popup with an editor that shows the data for the Address Book Entity in the format it would have if it was to be created as a Department, Group or User.

Fill in any missing information and go to the access tab to place the user at the desired location in the organization. When done editing click the Save button.

The convert functions also work between Departments, Groups and Users. If you create a Group and you want to convert it to a Department you can do so by using these functions.
